Boyndie Old Kirk, church 200m NW of Boyndie Bridge
Boyndie was a parish before Banff was. The ruins of the old parish church of St Brandon at Inverboyndie in sight of the sea have the corbelling for the pre-Reformation bellcote. The graveyard has an excellent collection of stones from the 17C and 18C, and a story of how Thomas Edward, the Banff naturalist, had a strange encounter there. The Georgian parish church of 1773 near Ladysbridge, which replaced this one, became a private house and was mysteriously burnt down in 2000. The present church is in the village of Whitehills. It used to be one of the churches in Banff, but in the 1920s was moved stone by stone to its new home.
