This waisted bullet-style teapot is probably the oldest surviving silver teapot in Scotland. One of the largest existing pieces of Banff silver, it is thought to have been made by George Leith on his visit to Banff in 1700. Although the BANF mark is beautifully clear, the maker's mark is not. Some have put the date of the teapot as late as 1728-32, but it is felt that its small size, coupled with the style of the decoration, support the earlier date.
