William Duff, 1st Earl of Fife (1697 – 1763). Framed pencil and wash sketch by James Ferguson. William Duff of Braco and Dipple was M.P. for the County of Banff 1727-34. He purchased considerable estates in Aberdeenshire, Banffshire and Moray, and built Duff House between 1735 and 1740. He was created Lord Braco in 1735 and Earl of Fife in 1759.
